Professor Josh Cadenbach
Owner/Head Instructor

Professor Josh started wrestling at the age of 8 in his home state of Nebraska and continued to wrestle throughout his childhood and high school years. While his wrestling career was successful and included medaling and winning numerous state and local tournaments, Prof. Josh turned down collegiate scholarship offers and instead served his country in the 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. In 2010, Prof. Josh left the service and attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he studied Political Science and received his Bachelors of Arts. It was during his time at the U of I that he wanted to find something similar to wrestling and discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Barra Champaign. Shortly after graduating from the University of Illinois, Prof. Josh was given the opportunity to take over the school. Under the tutelage of Professor Marcos Barros, a fourth degree black belt under Master Carlos Gracie Jr., Prof. Josh is continually training to ensure his students receive the highest quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction. In addition to being is a certified Gracie Barra instructor, Prof. Josh is a certified Commando Krav Maga instructor and leads the Commando Krav Maga classes. He brings nearly 20 years of grappling experience to Gracie Barra Champaign in addition to passion and drive to share the gentle art.


Coach James Martin

Chief Instructor GB Kids Progam

Coach James is an avid martial arts enthusiast and practitioner. Coach James began his martial arts training when he was four years old studying Okinawan Karate, receiving his  Karate black belt when he was 18 years old. Karate was his passion until he found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2013 with Gracie Barra Champaign under Professor Josh Cadenbach. Since then, Coach James demonstrates his dedication to Brazilian Jiu-Jistu and the Gracie Barra philosophies by serving as the Chief Instructor of the Gracie Barra Kids Program.


Coach Michael Stoller

Program Director 

Coach Michael began his grappling career when he was 10 years old with his elementary school’s wrestling team. He wrestled competitively until he was 17 years old. During which he earned many high school accolades, including participating in the IESA and IHSA State Wrestling Tournaments. At 19 years old, Michael transitioned his wrestling skills to mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Michael became a member of Gracie Barra Champaign in 2012 under Professor Josh Cadenbach. Michael currently acts as the Program Director for GB Champaign and assists with classes as needed.
